About all I remember about the Drive-in Movies were how many we could get in the trunk! That also used to be a 'tough guy' check out..what with what was known as a "smoke out", you could only pray the line getting in was short. Once went with George DeShurley and his Dad's big construction flat bed truck. We had about 15 or 20 with lawn chairs going in. Needless to say, that was a buck a 'car' night. The folks that were behind us were not too pleased!
We lived on the street that ran beside the Jingle Bob from 1959 until leaving for Alaska, unfortunately it had closed down by then, so no free movies.
Later, in Alaska there was a Drive In movie in Anchorage (the Sundowner). Shows didn't start in the summers until 10:30 or 11. In the winter, they would rent you a heater that plugged into the speaker pole and hung on the window also. Supposedly kept you from running the car and creating fog. But you still had to once in a while to defrost the windshield.
