Rex,

Thank you for the interesting articles about the Yule log!  We take so much for granted re Christmas celebrations without understanding the history behind some of the customs.  Now I am more aware!

Rex, nice sled photo.

Here's another that might be of interest ... original "rosebud sled" from Citizen Kane.

Pat,

Yes!  Sleds do conjur up other fun things like...

"Jingle Bells Shotgun Shells
Rabbits all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a Four-door Model ‘A’…"       wink

Here's more on the "Historical Sled" named "Rosebud" you posted

During this particular era, just about everything including:
Furniture, kitchen tables, dresses. and shirts were 'Turquoise"...

Anyone remember the Make, Model, and Year...of this "cool ride"?

1956 T Bird. Sweet ride...

My brother had a '57 T-bird ... I was always jealous.

Interesting story (or not) ... I have a friend in California that made it big in tech. He had a gorgeous hilltop home built in Orange, CA ... it had views clear to Catalina Island. As he was a car nut, it included an "L" shaped garage to house six of his favorite vehicles plus a service bay with lift and a wash bay. The attic of this eight-bay garage housed his electric train set, the biggest (by a wide margin) I'd ever seen.

In one of the bays, he had a '56 T-bird in absolutely beautiful condition. I remarked at what a nice restoration job he'd done. He just smiled and had me look at the odometer; it had 1,460 miles on it. It had been stored since purchase and rarely driven. I can only guess what he paid for it.

To take the story full circle, the last time I saw my California friend, his fortunes had dramatically turned. He had lost absolutely everything (including his wife that divorced him) and was living penniless in a homeless shelter. I bought him lunch and have since always wondered how he was doing??? I have no way to get in touch with him.

1955, 1956, & 1957  T-Birds were all beautiful sweet rides.  The '56 & '57 had a different rear bumper. Whereas the '55 had "through the bumper" chrome exhausts. If memory serves me, I believe Charlotte Adams father had a '57 T-bird and Howard Allen as well. Joe Van tried to sell me his '57 white T-bird, but much to his chagrin, found out just how tight my long legs were... pressed against that big steering wheel! I have to agree with Danny's call as the T-Bird being a 1955.

Anyone else have a '55 - ''57  T-Bird... or knew who drove one?

Fifteen years ago Billy Ward sent me a song recorded by a singer/song writer he met in Denver during a performance. I really enjoyed the song thinking the song's lyrics captured the very essence how many of us feel… about where we grew up, going back to our roots! Billy said the singer had attended Goddard High school in Roswell thinking he graduated in 1966. I found a few pictures and arranged them in this video hoping to better illustrate this song on YouTube.

Bobby Allison’s heartfelt song “New Mexico”

Turn volume up and put on Full Screen!!

Rex, are you trying to make us out-of-staters homesick for our home state?  If so, you are accomplishing your goal!  This is awesome!  I love the song, lyrics and besutiful pics!  This is a winner!  Thank you for sharing this  with us!

I have always liked this song about NM.  The video shows what a beautiful and diverse state we grew up in.
