Speaking of 'alley-er-gees", been sneezing somewhat during the day.  A few leaves on the the elm trees are starting to turn brown and falling. Autumn, my favorite season. Yeah, that football game with Santa Teresa Desert Warriors (0-6 record), was stopped in the 4th quarter with the 'mercy rule. However, I do not understand how Santa Teresa with a population of only 5,973 is in the same class as the Coyotes (4-2) and Goddard Rockets as Roswell's city population is 47,176. Must be some sort of gov'mint con-spiracy going on ...?

Rex, that reminds me of one of my favorite authors from years back.  Clive Cussler wrote  novels featuring the main character Dirk Pitt.   Most stories took place in or near the ocean.  Read every one of his books.

I can think of one book made into a movie..."Sahara".  Mathew McConaughey stars as Dirk Pitt.

Been watching some swing dancing contests on You Tube, John Lindo, who you would think could not dance a step, has become my favorite.

But this one of a couple, Pete and Beulah Mae, about our age popped up the other night.  Had to share...hope you enjoy.

Fred,

The couple Jitter-bugging was a real hoot!  You can tell they've danced together for some time!  Their routines were pretty dang good!   Thanks for Posting!!  I hope others liked it as well!

I mentioned John Lindo earlier.  For his size, he is very light on his feet.  He wins about 1 in 4 or 5 dance contests.  In this video, he is competing in the finals...

Fred,

Cute dancing couple. John's factial expressions look a bit like Dom Deluise. My business partner in Santa Cruz was light on his feet at 285 lbs and a good dancer.  He was suprisingly fast on the tennis court too! He enjoyed tearing my game up with his backspin on the ball!!  Thanks for posting!

Sherry,

Glad you liked the pictures.  The one with lightening and rain is Peter Hurd's conception of Billy the Kid after killing Sheriff Brady and his subsequent escape from jail in Lincoln. Popular belief is the "Kid" was headed to South Springs just south of Roswell to meet his girlfriend Sally Chisum niece of John Chisum at the Jingle Bob Ranch. The Kid then took off to Pete Maxwell's home in Fort Sumner where Pat Garrett eventually shot Henry McCarty (aka William H. Bonney).  In the picture one could imagine the "Kid" frightened by the sound of thunder from the lightening bolt was that of a posse's gun fire, therefore, continually looking over his shoulder.

"It may have been that I really don't know... but none-the-less, it's in the Book!  ~ Johnny Stanley 1956

I find it odd that in the painting, Billy the Kid is nervous about the lightning strike.  But the horse seems to be very calm.  Normally, the animal is the nervous, jumpy one...

We might hafta dig up Hurd so he could better explain it... "Only the Shadow Knows for Sure..."

Paula Carl (Cowee Miller)

Hello all. It's been a while since I have posted or even read anything here. Unfortunately, my life changed dramatically on September 27 when my husband David passed away. He had Parkinson's Disease from exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam so his passing was expected. I'm thankful for the 19 years we had together but I'm so thankful he's at peace and not in pain. His memorial service was this past Saturday and this Thursday, the 16th he will be buried at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. David was so proud of his Air Force service and he often worked his experiences there into his sermons. That always made his point! Hug your families up tight and tell them often that you love them because you never know when that might be the last time. Thanks for letting me post

David was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and flew 125 missions in Vietnam.   The link below is the article that explains why he was awarded the DFC. Thanks for reading.

Paula, my condolences, sorry for your loss.

My brother, Bob, was a Navy medic.  He too had medical problems from Agent Orange, eventually passing after his 3rd bout with cancer...

Paula,

I am very sorry to hear of David’s passing. I am pleased you have let your friends know about your situation.  You have been very supportive of David over the years. Good for you! Especially with the efforts you made to help coordinate the Distinguished Flying Cross service held in honor of David. Please know that your classmates are here for you. I am glad you posted and grateful for your friendship.

Wow, I had a wild and fun 3 hours last evening!!! Now don't jump to conclusions!!

Bill Leggett sent me a copy of the 1962 El Coyote, and I sat right down and read through it page by page. Two major things seemed to be apparent (I think). One: there seemed to be a large change over in teachers from 1961?? and two: the yearbook photo caption group seemed to have a great time! laugh

I loved reading though the Seniors "future Vocations" plans. If they all worked out, RHS turned out a lot of engineers, secretaries, educators, medical personnel, and not a few artiste's and lawyers.. It would, have been fun to know how many classmates fulfilled those plans.

I know that what I had planned in life certainly changed, and the few folks I knew then, mostly went in different directions. I did notice that many of the young ladies plans were for marriage, and some even named the planned gents!! I did note that none of the gents had any plans like that listed, although some were fairly exotic!!

I wonder if Joe Pesante ever got to be a bookie, and Tommy W., how did the playboy thing work out!!

Well, my best to all, and reading this El Coyote made me realize how long ago those great days were.

Those were some fun times at RHS! I especially liked the class plays, football games, basketball, working on floats, and the bonfire before the homecoming game. My fav teacher was Robert Maxwell. He'd give us tests during the first part of class, and the second half, he would tell us WW2 stories.  He was a fighter pilot during the war.

Listening to music is fine, but one needs to watch out for the dancing crazes.

When I was working in Houston, that was the start and huge growth of the line dancing craze. I'm afraid I got into it when I was first assigned there before my family came down. Even after that, I was going out most every night, leaving my wife and children home. IT WAS ADDICTIVE!!

Fortunately I got help.

I found 'Line Dancing Anonymous', and they got me on the Two Step Program, which saved me!
