Linda Ruth Files LUBBOCK-Linda Ruth Files, 70, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Jan. 21, 2015, in Lubbock, Texas, where she and her family have resided since 1973. A celebration of her life will be held at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lubbock at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24th. The family would be honored to receive friends at the church beginning at 10 a.m. She was born on April 5, 1944, in Roswell, NM, to her late parents J.E. Jimmy and Ann Dumas. She met Gerald Files at McMurry College in Abilene, Texas, in 1962, where they quickly fell in love and were married on March 7, 1963, in Roswell, NM. Linda graduated from Roswell High School in 1962. She worked as a passionate and loving Kindergarten Teaching Assistant in the Lubbock Independent School District for 26 years. She was also a dedicated Avon Representative for many years. She was gifted with a beautiful singing voice, and as a young woman she sang many solos, and was involved in choirs, weddings, and school musicals. Her love for music and singing continued throughout her entire life. Linda's legacy is her unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior. This legacy of faith is instilled within her family and loved ones and will be carried on for generations to come. She is survived by her husband, Gerald Lee Files; daughter, Deborah Lynn Callander and husband, Tim; granddaughter, Laura Elizabeth Martinkewiz and husband, Quinn; grandson, Christopher Michael Callander of Lubbock; son, Kenneth Lee Files and wife, Shar; and granddaughters, Sydney Kate Kim, Madison Grace Files, and Emily Anne Files of Houston. She is also survived by her sister, Diane Dumas of Santa Fe, NM; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Linda chose to donate her body to TTUHSC as a gift for the future of mankind. Her family would like to express their gratitude to Home Instead Senior Care and Crown Point Hospice for their loving care, comfort, and support.
