Eddie Ely

        "Celebrating Life" !!

Edmund Forrest Ely   August 14,1944 - January 22, 2024

Ed, a long time El Paso resident, is survived by his family, Virginia McCoy (Jack), Mark Jensen, and Forrest Ely. Ed enjoyed working and did so until the Friday before his death at GECU. Ed worked at various other banks/savings and loans, and respected institutions throughout his career. He loved cars, boats, dogs, sports and his longtime friends from Eastern New Mexico University and work. You could find Ed at most UTEP sporting events, the favorite was when UTEP football beat BYU in 1985. HE WAS THERE! Ed will be greatly missed! A "Celebration of Life" is being planned at a future date.

Eddie was a cool head! I always enjoyed talking with Eddie at our RHS class reunions. Eddie was soft spoken, unassuming, and made himself clear in only a few words. Eddie had fun when he attended our annual Gatherings in Ruidoso each year! It was really nice catch up and talk about our interests and hobbies such as boating and football. Eddie laughed when I teased him about… being a member of a group in high school called “The Gods”. If memory serves me, the group included Howard Allen, Eddie Ely, Tommy Taylor, Sidney Allen, and Barney Durham. I do apologize if I left out anyone from this ‘esteemed’ association… just kidding! I will miss Eddie a lot especially at our class reunions.  I do wish to extend my condolences to Eddie’s family members and other friends.

Condolences to his family and all who cared.  I was Eddie's friend in high school.  I remember his candy apple red car well.  He showed me how to open up the Lake plugs on a used car my mom bought at a certain point.  I remember his adopting California style early (white pants, Beach Boys style button-down shirts).  He had a great sense of visual style.  Eddie called me when Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper were killed the day the music died.  He was deeply upset.  I feel the same way now.  broken heart

Eddie, was a good guy! And all the girls fawned
over him.
Mrs. McEvoy was teaching a Ballroom Dance Class
and bunch of us took the class Eddie was one of them.

When the class was finished Mrs. McEvoy had a Dance
for us at the Women's Club. She paired everyone up
and she put Eddie and I together.
He and His Grandfather picked me up. There
was another couple with us but I can't remember who
they were. As I remember it was a good evening!
That was the last and only time I was out with Eddie.
HAHAHAHAHAH!!  Thank you Mrs. MaEvoy for the
Memory!!
It was nice seeing Eddie at the reunion this year.

Eddie will be missed prayers for his family!
