Harvey,  you’re a brave man jumping in those Chilly Willy 38 degree waters!  You trying out for the part in Mark Spitz’s new flick called:  “How I Spent my Winter Vacation”?

A bunch of of us celebrated New Year’s Day on several West Coast lakes waterskiing.  Some lake temperatures got down to 35-37.  No Mas, Ese…  We started wearing wetsuits after a few friends got hypothermia.

Prize for answering all three questions... Bazooka Joe's Bubble Gum!

1.  Uan Rasey… What part did he play in Chinatown?

2.  “Forget it Jake,  It’s Chinatown”.  Who said this and what was it's meaning..?

3.  Who played the trumpet in the hauntingly beautimous "Love Theme from Chinatown"?

Taking a stab at Rex's trivia question.........

1 - Uan Rasey did not play a part, he played a trumpet.....!

2 - The line means that Jake cannot change the way things are.  Lou told him this.

3 - Again.....Uan Rasey...???

My favorite line in the movie, one that I once in awhile will use on the Nancy is one of my favorites uttered by Jake when he screws up....."Well, don't I feel like a f******g fool."

Fred,  you’re in the ball park with the three trivia questions!  Let’s see if anyone else can add more Nicholson quotes.

I liked this quote by Jake (Jack Nicholson).  “When you’re right, you’re right, you’re right”.  I believe Jack borrowed this expression from Woody Allen, but more likely from myself and Johnny Allensworth.  That started when Turley and I were taking pictures of "old taverns and bars" for the sake of preserving their historical value for posterity, but mostly for the wild stories told at the Gathering.  When Turley said: “Rulon’s ain’t here. It’s where Variety Liquors is now”... we shortened the phrase to:  "Turley, (When)… you’re right… you’re right”.  wink

Thanks so much for John posting and praying for me. I have a stage 5 CKD and will have a kidney transplant with my daughter being my donor. After a CAT scan, UCH-Denver discovered a quarter sized nodule at the bottom of my right lung that has a 40% chance of being cancer. I will have another CAT scan on Jan 27 to see if that nodule has grown or stayed the same size. Thanks for the kind words and prayers from everyone! Thanks Ray, Dan, Don, Charlene, Saundra and my classmates for the prayers and well wishes. Cook, I'm still working out 3 times a week for 90 minutes. God bless!

Mini - Mini Reunion.  A couple of days before Christmas Billy Ward, Danny Cathy, Jerry Floyd, Teddy Garrett and I got together in Fort Worth for a lunch mini-reunion.  We had hoped Tommy would be in town on business, but his schedule didn't work out.  We missed him.  Great visit and fun to be with old friends.  Recommend it as therapy for senility!!  I live in Fort Worth and Teddy, Danny & Jerry all live within about 30-40 miles of here.  Billy was in town for Christmas visiting his wonderful daughter who is volunteering to donate a kidney to Billy.  There are real angels around.  I am confident our long time and good friend Billy will overcome the his health issues.  Billy has a lot of old Roswell High friends that are wishing him the best as he deals with these challenges.  Good things happen to good folks.  We'll see you in Ruidoso in August Billy.  We have a rained out golf game to finish!!!

Tommy Weathers

I had a good talk with Billy the other day. Billy knows how much we love and are praying for him.

How about this picture of the old football field! I played here for Gulf Pride in the 6th grade, South Jr High, and Roswell High school. Lots of memories.

Great Billy!  Keep of the physical fitness, as much as you can do!!

It is never too late!!

Pat you are right.

Looks like the Weathers family to me. I sure miss my mom and dad. My oldest brother Rusty has moved to Roswell and Cherry is moving here in April. The guys are going to batch together.

Tommy when I was in grade school I lived a half blosk from the stadium on tenth street.  On game nights I would sit on top of the gate tower until half time and then they would let me in free.  I got to see my heroes that I saw every day when they practiced and I would shag balls, carry dummies or anything else I could.  I still remember Lloyd Taylor, Juicy Wright, Richard and Robert Caywood, Wyman Akins and Bernard Crawford's brother whose name won't come right now and Sheman Pruitt.  If I didn't have CRS I could remember more.

Richard Caywood taught me how to dive.  When I was eight or nine years I would see him at the park pool.  I would get on his back and we would do one and a halfs off the high dives and a lot of other crazy dives.  Nearly scared my mother to death..  Great days in Roswell N.M.
