The gathering was great fun again and so nice to see everyone a few days. Huge thanx to Marilyn, Bob, and Rex for setting it up for us. Your the Best !! For those who couldn.t make it - you missed out. I am like Lynn & Saundra...........either month is good for me. I liked getting out of hot box Roswell into the freshness of the cool pines.I like the race time too.  As for the motorcycle rally...............I/ll be up there as one of those swarm of bees on my new trike. Lots of fun, Mack. Happiest of birthdays, Lynn !!!!!

We had a great time - as always! We love seeing everyone and catching up on the newest (and oldest) stories (and lies).

We also love coming to the mountains to cool off from our 100+ degrees! For that reason, I think we have a slight preference for August. But we could do either. Looking forward to #18!

Yep... I understand that reason, too, Marilyn.  Glad you are home safe. can’t wait to see you next year.

Wrecks,  You should curl your silver locks, get some elevator boots like Toms and watch the Tom Jones show till you have his moves.  Also get some bellbottoms.  It's never to late to get discovered.  We've all seen you play your guitar and sing at our gettogather a few years ago.  You could at the very least be the entertainment at our next reunion (2012).  mk

Mack Truck,  wouldn't 2012 be a seven year old newspaper?

However, your Tom Jones idea for entertainment is a good one! One hitch though, we’ll need a couple of backup singers, like the ‘Blossoms’ that Tom had on his show. Now’s ‘your’ chance to shine! All you need do is sport a black wig-hat, wear a mini-skirt, and invite Maria Bigrope to round out your backup singing group.  Bet we’d "knock ‘em dead" at the 2020 gathering!!

The Tom Jones job for you is a no brainer for you having been tuitored by RHS's Joe Carroll during your music career at Roswell High.  And the luck to have been taught tap dancing by some of Californias finest tappers.  As for me I have  no music or dancing lessons  so I must decline your generous invitation.  Last but not least It is my sad job to tell you that Maria Bigrope was hit by a loaded logging truck just west of Mescalero.  She drug the truck and load for about1/4 mile before passing away.  Her last words were Rex, Rex.  Everyone on the seen thought she was talking about the truck-Bigrope wreck so I felt it was my duty to tell them about you and Maria's past relationship.  Had you not been caught in her crib stealing her corn you'll would have probably still been togather.  Soooo sad, but you did get a short mention in her service.  mk

Mountain Mack,

Your recall appears to be a tad off these days.  It wasn’t Joe Carroll, but T’was Paul Summersgill. I liked Paul as a person, but did not care for the boring conservative music the band had to play. After being forced to endure John Phillip Sousa’s marching songs more than 10,000 times, I said No Mas. Then hooked up with Tommy Parsons (electric guitar), Tom Mangham (congo drums), and myself (bongo artist). Yup! We took Sensations ’61 by storm.  Even got our pictures in the RDR and got invited to lots of parties!! I finally did the ‘Go west young man’ scene. Threw off the shackles of ultra-conservative good ole boy mentality. Meanwhile back at the ranch… speaking of teaching an older dog new tricks, is Mack trying to decline my invitation as a backup dancer/singer for the Tom Jones Imitation because he’s timid or shy? Or Is it cause he knows his legs would have to be shaved to wear panty hose 1970’s style?  It dang sure wouldn’t look good with 4 inch-long hair-curls pressed up against the inside of panty hose, now would it?  Mack you really need to fess up. Maria Bigrope has always been your all-time number-one gal and is still, very much alive.  Ever-body knows Maria Bigrope is the go-go dancer at the “Win, Place, Show” Bar on Sudderth.  Rumor has it you haven’t dropped by Maria’s workplace to make any child support payments to her for the past six months.  A convenient case of temporary amnesia?  hmm...

Looks like El Juan spent his entire summer vacation in a 'northern state' of “Ah’ll-ask-her” attempting to become erudite and suave.  Sorry Charlie Tuna, folks don’t want a tuna with good taste, they want tuna that tastes good….

Well, this has been quite a week. Getting back into the Tennessee swing, with HOT weather, the sad rememberance of September 11 (which it seems many in this country have forgotten) and the finally Friday the 13th.

Hope all are doing well............

Greetings from Ruidoso.  I feel sorry for anyone not living in Ruidoso this morning.  Had a little shower last night and it's 54 degrees.  The air is clean beyond beliefe and you can smell the pines.  September is the best time of the year up here and it would be a great time for our annual gatherings.  Its not as crowded and lots of cabins etc are vacant.  Get a old cabin in the Upper Canyon and discover what made Ruidoso famous for the last 120 years.  Even Billy the Kid hung out here when he wasn't out runnin, russling and shooting up the area.                      Guys we have the best communication setup of any class anywhere.  The other people I talk to mabey know where 2 or 3 of thier classmates and friends are.  They are really ivious of our website and how we stay in touch with each other.  Lets see some communication on the forum and let everyone know what you are up to in your life.  It's a lot of fun just to get in touch and reminese with old friends.  Might even stir up some memories and make you feel younger while you think about the old days. Let's get busy and start posting to the forum and I'll see you all next year at our get togather.  Come on Coyotes ,  Start howling.  Maybe a friend you haven't heard from in years will howl back at you!   Just send  John and Lynn a big thinks for all the work they have done on our website.  MK

Could be they are busy with grand and great grand kids back at school.  We babysat our grandkids while their parents worked from babies thru high school.  Now we are doing the same with the greats, who are already in 1st and third.  It's pretty bad when they know more about the computer and phones than we do.  We have baseball football, dance, and cheer to attend.                                                                                               Mack,  we just got that first real rain in Carlsbad last night and it is great to smell my pine trees.  I have three that were planted after being our  Christmas trees and others that were long needles that people did not want.

Mountain Mack,

You being a Ruidoso realtor, pretty much know the lay of the land.  And as a good ole RHS Coyote… do a li’l research on cabins you mentioned with at least 3 bedrooms in Upper Canyon?  It would be cool to obtain some rental prices for the 3 days of our Gathering.  You can email either myself or the executive committee with your findings.  We'd be glad to take a look at what the low-season would afford us in September.  Anyone have other suggestions besides inviting El Juan as a 'volunteer' for the sacrificial burnt offerings during Saturday night's full moon...?  wink

Yep!! Weather is great up in the mtns this time of year . Was up there yesterday riding my trike up & attending the rally & trade show with my brother, Terry. We visited my cousin, Glenda who is lucky like you, Mack, & lives up there. We shopped some then drove the circle route to Nigales, Capitan, Lincoln & then on back to Roswell. Fun ride & we didn’t get rained on. We were going to ride up to Cloudcroft because we like the curvy rode but rain looked like it would catch us up that way so we ride the other direction instead. Would be good to see what cabins & prices you could come up with us for next Sept for the “ Gathering” Ian sure your leg work would be appreciated by all.

Mettie,

Why don't you post some pictures of you and your new Trike at the Biker Rally?

I shot this one in the parking lot of Roswell's Wally World two days before the biker Rally in Ruidoso.

Who says "duct' tape ain't in style''...  This Texas Triker got the Golden Aspen Motorcycle Rally Award for "How to Keep Air Filters From Flyin' Off..."
