Duck tape is a marvelous thing

I am envious of my old friend and hunting buddy Mack K’s 9/21 post regarding the great smell of fresh pine in the mountains. Here in Houston we just finished one of the worst rain and flood events in many years. We escaped the bullet at my house but many others just down the block had a couple feet of water in their homes. Can see lots of soaked furniture, rotting carpet, dry-wall, etc stacked up near the street for pickup. A sad sight.  Speaking of those great mountain pine smells, I recall at my family home on Fulkerson Dr in Roswell on certain days of the year and when conditions were just right those fragrant mountain smells would waft all the way down to Roswell. I miss that. Hope everybody is doing well. Yes Mettie, Ducktape rules!

If we had the gathering during the motorcycle rally it would be a huge source of entertainment for everyone.  You wouldn't beleave the motorcycles and the costumes they wear and they are swarming around like fireants.  The bad side is the noise from daylight till about 3AM it never stops. They have a parade on Sat. morning through town and  it's a lot like going to a zoo on wheels.  I think everyone would enjoy it at least once.  At one time it had about 39,000 people attending and probably 35 percent are women and a lot of them ride thier own bikes.  Haven't heard numbers this year but I don't think theres anywhere near that number of attendees now.  This is just some more ideas for thought  when planning next years gathering.  One big downside to this date is housing would be a lot harder to get but there would still be plenty.                                                                              O'K Mettie lets see those pictures.  I know you have them.  Don't hold out out on us!  Your old classmates want to see our own "biker chick".  POST THEM.  MK

Mettie,

If you have trouble posting pictures on the RHS forum, you can email them to moi and I'll post them on the forum... and of course, give you credit for being the RHS '62 Bicker Chick of the Month.  Sound like a deal?

If we held the Gathering during the biker rally, house or cabin rentals would likely be higher. Biker traffic congestion might turn off classmates wishing to attend the Gathering. I believe the weekend 'before' the Biker Rally in September would be good timing as Rude Dosie starts to get a tad colder towards the end of Sept.

Rex,  you're wrong.  The weather in September is awesome all lthrough the month.  It doesn't really get .to cool through Oct.  The first couple weeks of Oct would also be a good time for the gathering.  Temps are mild and the high country is starting to change colors.  Very pretty.  Secondly: this is Ruidoso not "Rude doso".  If you think we're so rude you should stay away.  I'm tired of you calling it Rude doso.  You've overplayed that card.  MK

Mack,

I was under the impression that all classmates who posted comments on the forum were free to express their ideas and opinions. It  appears the way you think, everyone else is wrong and you are  the only that is right?  I have made a few suggestions to help make the Gathering more convenient for others to attend, (if) September is more ideal.  But Mack, I believe you are ‘out of line’ for criticizing me and other classmates on this forum. Could the Rude part of Dosie be applicable here?  One who finds fault with others and attempts to publicly embarrass them? I believe the last thing this forum needs is a “word cop” whose chief aim is to act like he or she is more self-important and others are not. I do go trout fishing in Ruidoso frequently during the fall.  And know it can get pretty nippy and chilly-willy on many of those later fall days.

RHS1962 Classmates, Everyone should feel free to post comments (including any convenient months the Gathering could be held?)   It’s not Open Season… it’s an Open Forum.

Hi Mettie,

To date have not received your email.  Here’s a couple of options to post a picture.

(1) I’ll email you the procedure.  You can print it out and follow the steps.

or (2) Email me the picture you want posted and I’ll post it for you.

Whichever is most convenient for ya.  Lemmie know.

Great pictures of the Little League Champs!  Thank you for posting them.

Look how nice the float looks back in the day compared to what they look like now. They don’t seem to know how to build nice floats any more!!!!   ..... and not 1 horse in the fair parade. That seems very strange to me.

Picture on the Home Page reads:  "What Year and Who are They?"

My guess:  '10 year' RHS Reunion in 1972.

1st row - Bill Worrell - 2nd from right.  Some others sitting in that row appear to be classmen who graduated later than '62.  One looks like Jim Raby (a sophomore) when we were Seniors.

2nd row - Virginai Totty, Bobby Coons, David Carpenter, Claudia Phillips,

3rd row - Tommy Weathers, Billy Ward, Larry Adams

4th - 5th row - Mike Martin and Silver Saavedra

Anyone else have any guesses to add?  Then Jump right on in!
