This is way out or order with the  travel abroad "thread" that included lots of food and my favorite, Limoncello! I found a recipe from an old Italian from Sorento for both the clear, as well as the "Crema" Limoncello. (Think Baley's Irish cream, only lemon... It's great. We evn grew the Sorento lemons for a few years until our tree died from neglect when we were on a cruise... the irrigation system went our, and we came ome to a leafless tree! So sad! Those lemons were wonderful for lemoncello! Why is it the food that sticks in our memories! I remember exactly what I ate in 1972 in an inn on the main street in Oberamergau! What a lovely place..what a very long time ago! I too love all of the stories! Just to let you Little League heros know, I still brag about your big win! Yes, you did put Roswell on the map. It's nice to have something to brag about besides those pesky "aliens"! Keep the stories coming!

Well, here another September 11th. Hard to believe it will be 20 years next year.

Our fire department had a very moving ceremony this morning, here in Soldotna. They had the big ladder truck up and suspended from it a huge American flag. On the grounds, all officers were in uniform, and they had a bag-piper play, and prayers for all those lost, and for our Nation today.

With all the division in our country now, I will probably be breaking some kind of "ist" by saying,

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Hope that all are well and safe..

God Bless America!

I am sure as many things in our lives we will never forget where we were that day 9-11-2001!

Like Both John and Bobby Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Elvis and many more even things that happened in our personal lives!

Just finished an amazing book, Crucible of Hell, by Saul David. A true story of the 90 day battle for Okinawa during WW2. Makes me proud to be an American but incredibly humble thinking about the huge price some pay to keep us free.

God bless America.

My granddaughter  was helping her kids with schoolwork and they were studying 9-11.  She pulled up the video on her phone and let them watch it.  Didn't mean much to  9 and 7 year old, but brought tears to she and I as we remembered seeing it on tv at the time.  It is time we got God back into our schools and goverment.  Yes God bless America

John Doyle I agree with you.We need to get God and country back in the lives of young people. I always remember the trip I made to New York with some musician friends of mine.We arrived shortly after the 9/11
event. A friend had a sister that was working tirelessly with the Red Cross to feed and provide rest for the families and first responders. We seldom stop to remember those that God placed there to help and console others. That event was just one of the many that happen where Americans are there for others. We are seeing this again with food and shelters for those who have been impacted by Covid.
God bless America.

John and Diane I agree with you. That was a terrible day but that tragedy brought us together!  I am so thankful that we of the class of '62 have a strong foundation in history and in truth. We have lived in such a blessed time of American history. Let's not forget God's blessings on this country.

9-11 yes It hard for me to  think about that day, had just  Gotten home the day before when my wife woke up an turn on the TV saw the 2nd plan hit.  Lost some individuals, I knew that worked in D.C. when the plane hit. an a couple of individuals on the plane that was coming to CA.  an just look at what is going on now. Look at how many classmates we lost in Vietnam or pass away from Agent Orange problems. I look at the IN MEMORY section some times an see all of our classmates that have away  over the years. SOME very young.

In the book, “The Friends of Voltaire”, Evelyn Beatrice Hall wrote the phrase:

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”.

It was an illustration of Voltaire's beliefs. This quotation, which is sometimes

misattributed to Voltaire himself, is often cited to describe the principle of freedom of speech...

Therefore, I will defend to the death anyone having an opinion as stated on this forum.

In addition, I believe there should be a distinct separation between church and state.

Rex Booth, How did you get your message that big! When I opened it up to read it, it was 2 times the size of the pervious ones!

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”.

I agree and whole hardly believe in this and have quoted it many times to family and friends!

I received this from a old friend and thought it worth passing on...

I don't see any color here,

The headstones look the same.

No black, no brown, no white skin tone,

There's no one here to blame.

These soldiers fought and died for you,

Their color you can't see.

Your rights are still protected;

Here's the place to take a knee.

This looks Like North Junior High! Am I right?

09/23/20 09:29 PM #6077

Stephen Wolfe

HI, Sherry. Yes you are correct. That is the south end of the school, then North Junior High, later Pueblo Junior High and now the RISD Administrative Center ...or words to that effect. The library was on the second floor and peeking around the left side of the picture, you can see what was the band room. There have been some big changes over by that band room, specifically a ramp to meet ADA specs which leads to the Pueblo Auditorium.
