Rex, back when I lived in Clovis in the mid 60's, the Copper Penny was where a lot of the people who were recording music at Norman Petty's studio hung out at night.  A lot of jam sessions.  One of the groups was the Fireballs.  I knew Doug Roberts, the drummer. Nights when they were in town, you could find me at the Copper Penny.

I only hung out with them for 5-6 months.  My wife was in Roswell with her parents, pregnant with our 1st born.  I went home weekends.  She wanted to stay with her Dr. until the baby was born.  Shortly after she and the baby moved to Clovis, I took my 1st step into the world of finance with a new job in Amarillo.

It looks like a 54 Merc to me but did anybody notice this is a " Drive-in cafe with Curb-side service " but it doesn't like like there is any one sitting on any of the cars?

The Pontiac is a 1955 and the Ford on the left is a 1955 or 1956 and I am pretty sure it's a 1955.

Yes, 1955 Ford. Can't mistake that stretched "V" on the side. I think the black car on the far left is a 1948-49 Chevy with those huge "bulging" wheel wells.

I spoke with Tommy Weathers about the Nickson Hotel "Gunfight" Mural. Tommy says he beleives it was Artesia oilman Mack Chase who bought the mural.

Ok now on to the next mystery... we've already cussed and discussed #25, but who wore jersey #24 for the RHS Howler basketball team in 1960...?

Rex,
If no one has answered your quiz,
I think it was Jim Milstead.

Cal,

You are right! And 'when' you're right... you are right!  Number #24 is Jim Milstead!  Do you have a  crystal ball or did you look at brother Bill's 1960 yearbook..?  wink

Thanks a bunch for participating!

Don't have any of Billy's year books but a little green man with big eyes came to me in a dream and kept saying JM JM and I couldn't think of anyone else with those initials. Or maybe it was just the pain meds. Keep um coming!

Rex, my daughter, in Rio Rancho, and I, in Roswell,
we're speaking on the phone discussing what makes a
Super Blue Moon. After finding the answer on google
I said lets each step out on our porches and see it
together. I said isn't it amazing we are looking at the
same Moon and are in 2 different places. What a
beautiful revelation we had.

Fred, that is not a cartoon, it's our current reality.  Way too much truth.  Rex, do you know how many times the courthouse has been remodled?
