The number of residents still unaccounted for has been shrinking significantly after thousands of people fled their homes as two fast-moving wildfires approached their village in southern New Mexico, Ruidoso Mayor Lynn Crawford said Tuesday.

Search and rescue crews have cleared more properties in the areas of Ruidoso, the mountain community hardest hit by the flames, and village officials and volunteers from the American Red Cross have been working through social media to list all those found to be “safe.”

Just a few people remained on the list Tuesday as unaccounted for. They include those authorities have yet to make contact with and who have not been heard from by family and friends.

Interesting article re the ‘Pentagoon’ reports 'boo-hooing' UFO sightings. It is my understanding reading other research material, that the saucer wreckage was "immediately" shipped under the cover of night, from Walker AFB to Wright-Patterson AFB just east of Dayton, Ohio. If it was only a weather balloon why all the secrecy… and shipping the wreckage overnight by plane to Wright-Paterson AFB for analysis by top gov’mint officials…

A question is lit... Why would a high ranking official like General Ramey be required by the gov’mint to debunk the flying saucer sighting? These are just pieces of tinfoil and balsa wood on the floor. Looks more like a kite than a balloon. And this is not the wreckage that was flown in secrecy from Roswell to Wright-Patterson AFB (just the night before) in July 1947... in my humble opinion.

Asked my AI girl Friday, Alexa, to play that radio station I used to listen to all the time as a teen dragging Main in Roswell.

She immediately tuned in to KOMA AM 1520, FM 92.5. Classic rock!!

I, too, listened to KOMA (AM 1520, as I recall) in Oklahoma City, tuning it in as soon as the sun went down and the signal became available. No news here; I think we all listened to KOMA in the evenings!

Before sunset, I grudgingly listened to the local KSWS station ... they mostly played “hillbilly” (country) music and that just wasn’t cool. I’ve since come to like and enjoy country music but not in my high school days!

I also listened to Wolfman Jack. In the years I was a fan, he broadcast from Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico on station XERF AM 1570 ... only a short dial twist from KOMA. XEG, mentioned by John, may have been a sister station ... not sure as I don’t recognize the name???

XERF was a “border blaster” station transmitting with a 250,000 watt signal. U.S. stations at the time were limited to a 50,000 maximum watt signal and there weren’t many stations of that signal size (KOMA was one) licensed by the FCC. If we could pickup KOMA in Roswell, imagine the range XERF must have had!

I’d also listened to XERF in bed late at night after Wolfman Jack was off the air. Until dawn they broadcast one radio preacher after another hawking prayer cloths and other religious and healing paraphernalia. I’m not sure why I listened to this but I did.

Hey, we may not have had M-TV, but we definitely had great music!

George Lucas listened to Wolfman Jack as a youth in the early '60's. Lucas helped reignite Wolfman's career in the movie "American Graffiti" in 1973. "Wolfman Jack" aka Robert Smith, had many of his orignal broadcasts pre-recorded and sent those copies to over 2000 radio stations in the US and in various foriegn countries. A couple of Wolfman's favorite hipster sayings: "'Take a page from my book, Jack" or Hit the Road, Jack"!!

Talking about transitions in music styles. Buddy Holley started out playing “country” music in Lubbock, Texas while in high school. Holly's style was influenced by gospel, country, and rhythm and blues.

In 1955 Buddy opened for Elvis Presley three times that year. Holley’s band's style shifted from ‘country and western’’ to Rock-a- Billy then entirely to “rock and roll”.

Listening closely, hear country licks mixed with be-bop and rock-a-billy! From 1956!
