Speaking of 'trailer courts'. At our five year reunions Bill Turley teased certain friends still living in Roswell by saying: "Isn't it true, everyone in Roswell is related somehow...?   wink

Sherry.

I have mixed feelings.. in some ways I'd like to be 40-60 at the height of my career. Then again... like Topol with his many analogies in the ('Fiddler on Roof'... "On the other hand")... I am doing things now I didn't have time for in the past and am enjoying various projects and new hobbies now.

It would be interesting what others feel about becoming older or getting younger... or gettng on the mother ship for some serious time travel. What say thee...?

REX, YES some serious time travel. A LOOK AT THE FUTURE, AND THE PAST.  FROM WHAT IS GOING ON NOWADAYS, I THINK ABOUT OUR SCHOOL DAYS.

YES THE GOOD TIMES & BAD TIMES.

NOWADAYS THE GOOD TIME IS A BIG QUESTION.

Yes, Rex and Bill, I am with both of you!
I am so glad we grew up when we did,
the school days and friends were great.
I have had a Wonderful life, no regrets!
Yes, as Topol said, "On the Other hand"!
60-70 were good years too!!

BOY Rex you sure know how to put on the pressure!!
They all had different reasons to like them!!

Paul Newman because he was self-deprecating, stayed with Joanne Woodward, gave big to charity, was a great actor, and had those blue eyes, but Sidney Poitier because he maintained his dignity, refused to be "othered," stood up for rights, was a great actor, and had those blazing eyes.  Not to diss Steve and Barbra, but wow, those two were really something.  How about you, Rex?  I know Steve was a man's man, and Barbra had a voice like butter, to quote SNL . . .

Comments pertaining to actors are interesting.  Out of the four my vote is cast for charismatic Paul Newman and rebellious but charming Steve McQueen (The King of Cool). The first movie I saw with Paul Newman was “The Hustler”at the Plains Theatre 1961. Newman played the part of Fast Eddy Felson from Oakland, California. Jackie Gleason played an excellent part as Minnesota Fats. I thought Felson’s manager George C. Scott should have received an Oscar. And honorable mention goes to Piper Laurie for her performance. The next day after seeing "The Hustler", I went straight down to Eight Ball Pool Hall on west 3rd street and ordered a “custom pool cue” complete with black leather hard case!!

Steve McQueen in “Magnificent Seven” 1960 paired with Yul Brenner were an intense duo! McQueen’s nonchalant persona was killer. McQueen came a long way since his first B-movie “The Blob” in 1958.  Both actors Newman and McQueen have a list of great movies that space and time does not permit.  Sidney Poitier… played the intense angry black man. I liked “To Sir, with Love” 1967 as the teacher at troubled school in London.

And yes, who in their right mind wouldn’t want to stay with charming, sweet, smart, wonderful Joanne Woodward!! My favorite Georgia Peach!

Classmates,

With heavy heart I wish to let you know of John Doyal passing November 13.  John's wife Nelda Doyal contacted me late Sunday afternoon. John was well liked especially by his contributions and good stories he told on our RHS message forum. John was a good guy and will be missed!

John's obituary may be found "In Memory".

I am very sorry to hear about John. I first knew him at East Junior High, and later shared a couple of classes with him at RHS. He was always a polite and caring person. (a gentleman if you please) I will miss my interchanges with him on this site. God Bless

Our friend John Doyal had many qualities like Will Rogers who said: "I never met a man I didn't like"!   I liked John the instant I met him.
