Tommy I bought one of those when they first came out. It took me forever to get it out of that plastic wrapper.

Didn't roll very well on the carpet !!!!

That sports jacket is really stylin' !!

Rex Booth

Bill Turley,

Speaking of nice T-Birds.  Didn't Harry Atkinson have a '62-64 white T-bird in LA?  We took a tour from LA to T.J.... I beleive in 1966.

Billy Turley

Don'tYep he did !!!! It was me, you,Harry and Bob Gilmore. We ran out of gas and Gilmore called AAA but when the guy got there Gilnore didn't have a AAA card so we had to pay the guy an arm and a leg for 5 gallons of gas. I think it was a bachelor party trip. Don't think we got into any trouble and all is well that ends well.

Rex Booth

Gilmore sold mucho grande AAA policies to many natives in Roswell.  I recall a story you told about Gilmore selling and collecting money at the La Bonita on South Main... could you embellish on this a little more...?

03/14/14 10:29 AM #842

Billy Turley

Actually it was the satellite Bar behind the La Bonita and a story better left untold. It did include Gilmore,me Tommy Weathers,Tommy's cousin from Mississippi, his coworker and Paul  and Sammy Parker. Tommy can tell the story better.

You talking about the night Paul had to come to the rescue of some "po-white boyahs"?

03/14/14 12:08 PM #844

Billy Turley

Yep...I thought it was the Congress in action. Paul created the problem and then campaigned against it. And during this whole thing Gilmore was selling AAA, trying to collect delinquent accounts and padding his pockets. The rest of us just wanted to drink a beer and make it through another day. Sure sounds like the current political arena.

Tommy Weathers

Turley I am not sure the statue- of- limatation are up on that stuff. Didn't know how to spell statueoflimatation.

In the spirit of St. Paddy's Day this is dedicated to our Lasses, Lads & Celtic friends... including the bourgeois and po-white boyahs too...

Saundra Bennett (Whiteside)

Rex, thanks for the beautimous St.Paddy's day video.....makes me want to go to Ireland!

John, thanks for all the Jib-Jabs.  They are lots of fun and keep us entertained!

Fred Miller

Rex, I liked the post also.......

For the record.....my wife is out of town on a quilting retreat........but I am hanging with people I have not seen in 50 + years....go figure.....

03/16/14 09:26 AM #849

Rex Booth

Saundra & Fred.  Thanks for the kudos.  The song Irish Boy was composed & conducted by Mark Knopfler and soundtrack for the 1984 film "Cal".

Fred you sure the quilting retreat isn't a form of 'beach blanket bingo'...?

John Landess

Rex, you got me fired up..... celebrated St Pat's day last night with daughter and family, with big servings of my world famous Corned Beef (just couldn't wait for Lá Fhéile Pádraig) .

I got the recipe many moons ago from the Navy CPO that was our unit cook. People who think they don't like corned beef ask for seconds. Also, fry the cabbage rather than boil it to pieces.... (I am some Irish, so OK on changes!!) Recipes are available for a slight charge!!

Tommy, sorry to hear that you cannot spell 'statuesolimitashions'... Notice the third from right bottom row thingy on the message response page top. It looks like a green check mark with ABC above it. If you try it you may be amazed!!!! honest!!! pass the word!laugh

By the way Billy, what is it with the Irish and all the snake bite antidote??? St. Pat was reputed to have driven all the snakes out of the country!

03/16/14 01:44 PM #851

Tommy Weathers

John L. So that is how you check spellling. Thanks I  am almost sure I will never have to spell statuolimation again in my life but it is great to know where spell check is. I never did do good it spelling. OK - english, math, history, and I am sure a few other subjects.

JOHN L.  ( By the way Billy, what is it with the Irish and all the snake bite antidote??? St. Pat was reputed to have driven all the snakes out of the country!)

The snakes are out an around in CA the dang weather . BIG ones with a lot of rattles on them

Rex Booth

For those who thought John L was enjoying French Cuisine... "Lá Fhéile Pádraig"

Lá Fhéile Pádraig, in the 4th century meant "the Day of the Festival of Patrick".   Bill L, for your information, St Patrick did not drive out all the snakes in Ireland.  Patrick performed (ahem) a 'miracle' and turned the last snake into his walking staff.  Hence when Patrick saw his own snake it permitted him to partake of the golden liquid known today as the antidote for snakebite... According to Turley, this is verified by the master taster  W.C. Fields...

John Laundress (sp?),  I bet there are many who would like you to post 'your recipe' of Corned beef 'n cabbage.  Eh whot, ole chap?

John McCormack the great Irish Tenor recorded the original "When Irish Eyes are Smiling"  in 1916.  Thanks to Dandy Don for sending the version by Dennis Day (not Timothy O'Leary or we'd all be trippin' out)

Is this Message Forum working or do you not have anything to say anymore?

03/23/14 10:49 AM #855

Tommy Weathers

John I thought I had lost the Forum. Did you get my Email that I wanted you to post on this page? I went to the thing on face book and it did not help. What happened? Did the Saint Pat  kill our form?

Roswell High School Coyote Basketball Team won the 4A State Championship for the third time in 5 years.  The Coyotes went into the Tournament as the number 1 seeded team in the state and lost only  one game all year.  Way to go Coyotes.
