Love the wallpaper, John.  Happy Mother's Day to all of the women who have borne children, raised children, taught children and loved children.

As for Rex, I hope someone will take care to keep him encouragedBut don't get him too excited, as he tends to get colorfu!!!!!!!!

Well, after 3 beautiful days, back to the Alaska we know and love???? chilly and windy.. kinda like Roswell in March.

da Plane, da Plane!!! That is the big and beautiful B36 Convair Peacemaker of the 509th composite bomb wing, Roswell. On takeoff, 6 turning and 4 burning (hopefully). The end of the longest runway, led directly across my grandparents place.. the ground would shake, dogs would howl, and the TV would roll, and I don't think my grandparents even noticed!!

Anyway, good summer to all...

Peace on ya my brothers and sisters.

I had forgotten about the golf course.  My future father-in-law and I played many rounds on that little 9 hole course.

I am afraid I never partook of the bowling/bar at Walker.. However, some of the aforesaid gentlemen and myself once hijacked some bowling balls from the in town bowling alley and rolled them down the hill on North Main in the wee hours. Always wondered where they ended up????

Bill L. Thanks for the photo.. Colonel CJ Tucker was a flight commander on 36's. He and his wife were my little sister's god-parents. When he took off leading a group, they never knew where they were going until airborne. My brothers and I used to get some neat little gifts when they returned, sometimes after a week or two....

Surprise !!!!  Surprise !!!!

I have a base bowling alley story. The ladies may not remember but Chavez County was dry on Sundays.

The only beer available was on the base. So here we go to the bowling alley on a Sunday afternoon.

There were 5 or 6 of us in booth in the back drinking pitchers of brew. Every time the pitcher went dry the next guy had to get another from the bar,We were cruzin' along until it was Glen Carter's turn ( Glen a year behind us, He was 6'5or 6'6" and a very good basketball player). Glen went up to get the beer...just so happen that the bar tender was reading the local sports page....just so happened that Glen's picture was in the paper. The bar tender did a couple takes, laid the paper on the bar and started poking the picture and then kinda yelled for us to get the hell out his bar.

So there ya go.

Don Ervin

Cuz, Glen was two years behind you.  Saw him last summer at Roys.

05/24/16 02:25 PM #3258

Billy Turley

Hey Cuz.

Glen was a good ball player and then he hooked up with some girl who got pregnant and he just dropped off the radar.

Rumor has it that you aren't going the Roy's party.

It won't be the same with out you there.

Take care of your self.

Bill and May's boy.

Turley,

We're going ahead with Plan B at Roy's.   Anyone want to  place a wager that Dandy Don will come out to Roy's next year.... to even the score....?   wink

Billy Turley

We'll get him twice next year.

Well, the weather here in old Alaska has been phenomenal this past couple of weeks....lots of sunny days. A friend was out on Kodiak for the annual crab festival and said that they had never had such nice weather. IF there is climate change, this is OK!!!!! The early King Salmon run has started and all rivers are open except the one nearest me... Needless to say the tourists and weekend crazies down from Anchorage and all points North are invading! BIG PARTY

Talking of parties, which Roy are you all referring to?

Well, hope that the weather there does not turn into Texas style flooding. Turley probably remembers the old day floods!

John, of coarse I remember them but my cuz Don Ervin remembers them a whole bunch more personal than I do. He lived in a house that backed up to the Spring River. A couple of house next him went on down the river.

He can tell us better,

Dandy Don

Thanks for the song “Perfidia”... made popular by the Ventures in 1960 including Walk Don't Run.

The word Perfidia in Spanish means (faithlessness, treachery or betrayal).  The song was written by  Alberto Domínguez,  a Mexican composer in 1939.

Here are the words of Perfidia translated in English.. sung by our favorite 'Eye-talion' tenor Andrea Bocelli.

Be sure to view on "Full Screen" to see the 'words' mo bettah good...

The picture is the old National Guard Amory.  On 5th street at the alley behind the former Roswell Daily Record.  Many great groups played duriing our dances held there.  I beleive Jerry Lee Lewis performed in the late 50's at the old Armory.

Turley tells a humorous story about Sammy Vaughn which started in the same alley of the old National Guard Amory...!

In 1962 the Ventures played at the 'New' National Guard Amory out on West 2nd Street.  Those were the days!
