They split up for awhile after some differences. When they got back together, they had a reunion concert.  I think they had improved with age...

Many moons ago I was invited to be in the audience of a TV filming of the Johnny Cash show. It turned out they were filming 2 shows back to back which ended up taking 6 hours. It was a long drawn out affair but still a once in a life time affair. The guests for the shows were Melanie, Kenny Rodgers, Bobby Goldsbourgh,Carl Perkins ( a few others I can't remember) but best of all was seeing the Everly Brothers live. They performed for almost an hour which was split between the two shows.

Cal,  Carl Perkins original "Blue Suede Shoes"!!  Yeah Man!

David Gilmour, in “Comfortably Numb” can get more out a guitar playing just “one” note, than others who do “50”!

Bob Gilmore, you may have a cousin across the Pond. Gilmour “bending those strings”  simply makes his guitar “weep” & “cry”… playing those blues.  Not bad for an English lad whose first record was “Rock around the Clock Tonight” (Bill Haley’s Comets) and  “Bye Bye Love” (Everly Brothers).

I was lucky enough to see Everly Brothers at Griffith Park Greek Theater in Burbank, California in the early 1970’s. Them-thar were the days, my friends!

What?  No other Tony Bennett fans out there...??!   sad

I couldn't begin to count the number of families, friends, and associates who have ‘not’ been touched by this disease. Those suffering with ALZ including spouses have a profound effect on the lifestyle of both parties including their immediate family and friends. After ten years, my Yvonne lost the battle with Pick’s disease in 2006.

Sherry Hester (Trasp)

Thank You Saundra!
Yes Rex all those types of diseases and there is a long
list, as you know, along with cancer. They sure do affect
the whole family and friends!

have the good times to keep you going!

So sorry about the difficulties you're facing, Sherry. Terrible diseases and issues that plague us the longer we live. TOUGH!

Classmates!

This song came out when we were Sophomores at RHS.  What song had these words?

"Will  bring us joys to share with those who really care"

Name the Song and the Singer!

(HInt: the song was orginally recorded in 1958 and released in 1960)

Rex, so sorry to hear about your Yvonne   My mom developed dementia after a stroke and having her leg amputated(due to a clot).  We drove to Roswell from Oklahoma once a month to spend a week with her and take care of her,  The most difficult part was her change in personality.  She had always been good natured and sweet!  She asked me once how she knew me.  I consider it an honor that I was able to help with her!  I think about her every day!  ~ Saundra

OK Rex you have to make them a little harder. Buddy Holly - True love ways. Keep up coming!

Cal,

Congrats for naming the song! I figured there was a Charles Hardin (Buddy) Holley fan out there somehere!  I try to make the questions and hints easier so folks like us suffering from grey hairs can participate.

Tip of the hat off to you Cal... for your diligent research on this heartfelt song! The executive committe has nominated you to filter future songs making them harder to name. Don't be surprised if a Joe Palooka bubble gum wrapper (prize) shows up in your mailbox!

Hey Rex, the teaser was a little unfair.Buddy Holly was one of my very favorite entertainers. Even though he only had a 2 year career,he, the Everly Brothers and Bob Dylan had a bigger influence on other entertainers than all the others combined. Don't know if anyone will give this one a shot. But here goes:
The lyrics " You tried to teach me right from wrong.Too much wine & too much song".
Originally recorded in the US by a group but had little success. Later recorded by and individual and went to #1. The song was recorded by Nirvana Andy Williams and several others.A really sad song but great lyrics!!!
