Fred,

Your 1930's video version of 'Thriller' proves how imaginative those songwriters are to take a 1980's video and give it a 1930's  sound!.  Very creative! Thanks for posting!

One of the videos I found on that "Post Modern Jukebox" revealed this...

In 2013 Ellie Goulding did a song called "Burn".  In the following video the song is given a "1960's sound" performed by three ladies!

Rex, I see you still haven't made it past the 3 ladies in red.....really can't blame you.

Yeah Fred,  every man's fantasy... ha!

Back on Bocelli for a moment.  I ran across this video of what I have always thought was one of the most beautiful song ever written.  It has been performed by multiple artists.

Here Bocelli is singing with his daughter and she also has a beautiful and powerful voice...

Fred and Rex these singers and songs are wonderful!!
I could listen to just Andrea' Bocelli and his children too,
all day long.

The Neil Diamond songs from the "Jazz Singer"
were great too.

Of course as most women I am a sentimental romantic.

The Bank Loan

A frog walks into a bank and approaches a teller whose nameplate reads "Patricia Whack."

"Miss Whack, I'd like to get a $50,000 loan to take a vacation."

Patty looks at the frog in disbelief and asks his name.

"Kermit Jagger. My father is Mick Jagger. It should be no problem authorizing the loan, I know your manager."

Patty explains that he will need to secure the loan with some collateral.

"Sure, how about this," said Kermit as he produces a tiny porcelain elephant, about an inch tall, bright pink, and perfectly formed. Very confused, Patty explains that she'll have to consult with the bank manager and disappears into a back office.

Patty walks into the manager's office and proceeds to tell her, "There's a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $50,000, and he wants to use this as collateral." Patty holds up the tiny pink elephant. "I mean, what in the world is this?"

The bank manager looks back at her and says ... "It's a knickknack, Patty Whack. Give the frog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone."

Another bank loan joke...

A man walks into a bank in New York City and asks for the loan officer. The man says he is going to Europe on business for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000.

The loans officer says the bank will need some kind of security for such a loan, so the man hands over the keys and documents of a new Bentley Continental, parked on the street in front of the bank. Everything checks out and the bank agrees to accept the car as collateral for the loan. An employee drives the Bentley into the bank's underground garage and parks it there.

Two weeks later, the man returns and repays the $5,000, plus interest, which is $15.41. The loans officer says: "We are very happy to have had your business and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out and found that you are a rich man. You have a good-sized house in up-state New York, a sizeable equity portfolio and no debt at all. We are curious as to why you would bother to borrow $5,000?"

The man replied: "Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for $15!"

LOVE heart SANTANA!!!

smiley Yep sometimes it takes more than duct tape!
Even though a bobby pin might work!! wink

I thought of other things I could have said but
decided I had better stop there!! HAHAHAH!!angel

John Doyal

Been known to use bailing wire in similar situations where duct tape wasn't strong enough.  Wild that he is still on tour.  Some of his music grew on me later on.  At the time I was busy getting married and having my daughter.  His music snuck up on you like the classical music  Walt put in his cartoons.  The more you heard it the better it sounded.  Old  Walt was sly because he could use those songs without having to pay fees for them.

Yeah John D,

Baling wire on everything from fixing fences to a string on my acoustic guitar (in a pinch). My grand pappy told me... don't leave home without it!

Speaking of guitar strings... how bout them-thar Doobies!!

As far as guitar string pluckers go, very few can match Roy Clark in my book.  The intensity on his face...

Dewey Johnson

I was recently in Roswell hanging out with members of the 1956 Little League World Series champions, who just happen to be members of the RHS Class of 1962. I'm sure you recognize these guys, but in case you have misplaced your glasses they are, left to right, Ferrel Dunham, Roswell Isotope catcher, Tommy Jordan, Jimmy Valdez, David Sherrod, and I'm Dewey Johnson, Class of '64. We were at Joe Bauman Park watching the last game of the Roswell Invader season. Unfortunately, the Invaders did not prevail.

Rex Booth

Yeah Fred,

Roy Clark's  "Malaguena" on electric guitar was quite a performance! Not many can take (just) a flat pick between the thumb and forefinger and play with such blazing speed. Which is much harder to do than plucking strings with individual fingers !!

Chet Atkins did nice acoustical version of "Malaguena" in 1956.

Dewey,

Good picture of you and a few members the 1956 LLWS team! Glad to see the guys are still struting their stuff!  Thanks for the picture and their (left to right) names!

The pure tone of an "Acoustic Guitar" with nylon strings is very enjoyable...
