Yeah Rex, it is so quiet in this large, empty room.  So quiet that when Dan spoke,, there was an echo...

Bill, when someone was leaving my dad always asked if they had their hair, teeth, and eyeballs.

For those who did not watch the Little League World  Series, you missed a win by Florida, not by a homerun, but a bunt in the 8th inning.

John and Fred

Another echo heard around the world... from a bunt that won the Little League World Series!!

Several posts back, we were telling bank jokes.  I have one that is actually true, actually a prank that I pulled on my mentor, the president of the bank I worked at back in the early 80's, Jerry Talley.

Jerry had a habit of saying, when he was trying to figure out a way to get something done, "I think I'll just go sit on a stump, drink some Black Jack, and ponder upon it."  Cannot count the number of times we heard that.

So one year, on Sept.1 for his birthday,  I planned a little surprise.  Late the night before, I snuck into the bank with a large oak stump on a dolly.  I put it in the middle of his office, and put a bottle of Black Jack on top.

I was not going to be in the bank the next day because it was opening day of Dove season.  So I had clued several people to bring cameras.  Jerry came to work, saw the stump and had the biggest smile on his face as the cameras were snapping away.

It doesn't end there.  I got one of the pictures, took to a friend of mine who blew it up into a 2' x 3' poster. As woodworking was a hobby of mine, I made a frame for it out of some old barn wood I had, complete with hammering in and removing bent 2" brad nails to create worm holes in the wood.

At the bank Christmas party that year, I presented it to him as a gift from his employees.  He got a big kick out of it.

Over the past several days, and with the help of his daughter, I finally got a copy of the picture.

Ferrell named 15 out of 21 classmate pictures. Dana named 20 out of 21.

Only 'one' more name to complete the quiz!!!   Want to take another look?!!

Yeah Fred, Great story!

Back in the days when folks had a good sins 'o humah. Bet it was a pleasure working with Jerry!  Wasn't it Brother Dave Gardner who said: "Ponder That"!!... after he had espoused a theory which took on a deep meaning?

Here's a line borrowed from Dean Martin's show"...

"Keep those cards and letters coming right on in"!!

Bill,  thank you for posting that.

Belief in God has worked in this country for 250 years now...even though nowadays there are others who will try to convince you otherwise.

Tommy Weathers may have given thought about hanging this picture on the "wall at  the Post Office", but decided instead to post it on this message forum made up of other 'desperados'.

Pictured is: Ferrell Dunham and Tommy Jordan holding his 1956 Little League World Series Champion baseball jacket at the 50th (1961 Class Reunion).

There is an interesting "story" about Jordan's baseball jacket! Tommy Weathers or Ferrell Dunham could give us the 'low down'... on the "mystery" of how the jacket went missing and was 'found'... 55 years later!

Going once, going twice... the winner of the "Classmate Picture Naming Quiz"....is... drum roll.... Dana Jennings (Garlow)!  20 out of 21.

According to Tommy Weathers, the boy who was not named is "Woody Beal" pictured between Barney Durham and Sanford Green on the 2nd row.
