Make vanilla milk shakes:
Place the vanilla ice cream and extract into a blender. With the motor running, add the milk and heavy cream until it is thoroughly mixed. Garnish the glasses with cherry purée reduction and a mint sprig and then pour the shake into a glass with a straw, and serve immediately with the cherry newton.

Charline,  I've seen a few dolls dressed in Levis sporting six inch stiletto high heels...

Turley, that theatre with the screen turned backwards... what was the name of it again... Pecos or El Capitan?  The theatre directly across on the east side of Main was where "The Outlaw" was shown starring Jane Russell.  Jane at the time was the girlfriend of Howard Hughes who produced the flick.  It was about Billy the Kid and Pat Garrett.  The marquee below was censored at many theatres across the country because of it's provocative nature.   Nature is good.

Bill L,   I have been to Mitchell's Pharmacy with my folks since I was old enough to walk.

When you entered the store the glass pharmacy counters were on the right side where old man Mitchell would wait on customers.  The soda fountain on the left.  Just to the rear of the soda fountain was the juke box, a couple of booth seats, and a small dance floor. Mitchell's was on the "west" side of the street near the corner of Main & 4th.  I worked at Mack's Camera Center then on 3rd street during all three years of high school.  I went to Mitchell's for lunch on Saturdays. The kids that hung out there were in their early twenties when we were just young punks 16-17.  And, Yes, Mitchell's had old dark wooden floors that "creaked" when you walked, like the ones at Monkey Wards did.  If memory serves me, which seems to have affected some here (ha) ... I believe Zinks may have been a door or two down from Mitchell's.  Tommy could verify this as his Dad bought Zinks somewhere along the line.  Which could explain why Tommy has an interest in collecting antique or vintage record players and radios.

As a result of seeing this flick at an early age, many of us developed a thing about haystacks in a barn.

Tommy you need to post some pictures of your old radios.   KBIM signing off.

Went for my walk this morning and as I was going along.  There came five Tom turkeys with all their feathers fanned out.  Off to the right were three hens paying them no attention.  The just walked along with their heads hung down just pecking and scratching.  The hens were heading to my right and there stood another Tom with all his  feathers displayed.  He was bigger than the other five and had better looking colors and they were headed his way.  I then realized that he must be one of the gods and probably had a convertable

Harvey,

You may be right about the red pick-up being a Chevy parked at Chew Den. The tailgate does have large white letters.

Here's link to feast your eyes on more neat Chevie 'peek-ups'...

Zinks was a music store, and sold everything from pianos, sheet music, and records.  As I recall I think they used the 2nd floor for guitars and band instruments.

Johnny,

It may be the "original" Mark Howell Grade School.  Located between Lea & Missouri Avenues - 508 W. College. The school facade has changed significantly over the years.  During the 1950's it took on square shape additions.

Our classmate Henry Allen attended grade school there along with his brothers Willard, Ardist, and Roy.  Other notables were Dandy Don Irvin, Doug Pulley, and (hubba hubba)  Elizabeth Thorne...

Johnny, I must confess.. There is a giveaway hint on the picture:  The 'properties' of the picture is labeled as "Mkhowell"...  You can give our friend Bill Leggetthorn another T-shirt.  It's on moi...

My Grand Pappy always said:  If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance... get 'em with B.S.

Billy Turley

Of all the things he tried to reach you....thats the one that stuck  haaha I had to learn that one on my own. Actually a sometimes useful skill.

Just think without that skill we would not have lawyers, politicians, used car salesmen, ad agencies ,CNN,MSNBC or FOX NEWS , investment bankers or Jessie and Al. ( and the list goes on including most fishermen)

So there !!!!

Ain't life grand....yea whoopee !!!!!!!!

Rex Booth

Thank you kindly, kindly.  Grand Pappy taught me other usefull things as well (not what you are thinking).   He said to avoid at all cost:  Lawyers, doctors, and bankers.  As a result you will learn stand on your own two feet and be sucessful in life.   He also said not to drag Main Street at 2 in the morning with your head lights off.... or  'Dennis the Fuzz' (Roswell's finest) will git ya... ha!

04/04/14 11:06 AM #933

Billy Turley

And what "Dennis the fuzz" said was total BS from start to finish. You think it is too late to get one of those bs'ing lawyers to sue him. We could all testify(using our aquirred skills) and dazzel the honest judge. Weathers and the north side guys and the two south side boys and the other fuzz who gave us a ride to Tommy's house to get his car.We can all share in the judgement money.

So there !!!

Ain't life grand.
