Tommy,

It is so  'cool'  to have had your association with these pioneer artists Hurd, Redfield, Tedrow, and others.

Here's a picture of a "Historical Building" in Roswell ....  There are stories and many a tale to tell about the pictures,. people, and events in this wonderful establishment!   I know many others miss having breakfast there...

Going back in time....

A real historical picture taken in Mississippi... Whose Grand Pappy (owner)  is standing in the doorway...?

Bottom picture is of the two albums Peter Hurd made. The small one he did by him self and the lp he did with Mickel.

The next picture is Jane Davisson The Hondo Valley.

The next is Greehaw painting in the Hondo Valley.

The next is something Mack Kizer did for me with some arrow heads we found when we were kids.

If I have them in the wrong order I am sure you can make it workl

Tommy,  what a great art collection!  You have some really nice pieces.  It is very cool that you got to know the artists personally.  I can understand why you started collecting.  The Hurd sketch you posted in response to LBJ's rejection is funny......don't remember seeing it before.  Good for him!  I heard that following that incident there was a saying in Washington for awhile that "Artists should be seen and not Hurd."

Since these lovin' couples have not  come forward to confess being the "week-end hippies"...  go ahead and bust them over a joke.   I have a pretty good idea who these couples are,  but  you need to let others know who they really are.  It's all in fun. right?

Y'all... here's an 'antidote' for those cold winter days or nights...

Saundra, is this similar to the hot chocolate in OKC...?

Hot Chocolate with a Kick !!

Spicy Hot Chocolate

Gently seasoned with a touch of chile powder, cinnamon and vanilla, this fragrant hot chocolate recipe is not too sweet and very complex. Using both cocoa powder and chocolate gives the roundest, deepest chocolate flavor while a mix of whole milk and cream makes it wonderfully rich and thick.

Total Time:   10 minutes plus 1 hour steeping

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar, or to taste
  • 3/8 teaspoon (ancho) chile powder, or to taste
  •  For those brave ones:  Cayenne or Jalapeno
  • 1 3/4 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Marshmallows or whipped cream, optional

Preparation

1.
In a medium pot, whisk together chocolate, cocoa, sugar and chile. Place pan over medium-low heat and whisk until chocolate begins to melt. Slowly whisk in milk, then cream. Drop in cinnamon stick. Bring to a simmer.
2.
Remove pot from heat. Cover pot tightly and steep 1 hour. Whisk in vanilla and taste for sweetness, adding more sugar if you like. Warm over low heat before straining and serving hot, with marshmallows or whipped cream if desired.
Yield:   4 servings
