Yall see what you'ns done gone and did with all them there big words. You cannot write a country song using that verbiage.

I wrote 2 country songs 1. If you wanta keep your beer cold, put next to my ex-wife's heart.

                                      2. I'm so miserable since you're gone it's almost like you are here.

Got a title for a third one called, This ain't a Hallmark card cause I don't care enough to send the very best.

Well I never drank a Cherry Newton at Greers.  I drank a normal drink.  A Cherry Phosphate.

I will be there in August for the Gathering. So there!!!! The "old sage" is planning a refresher course in left handed threads, knot tying and spare tire changing for all previous graduates is mandatory no matter how busy you may be. This does not apply to Tommy Felber,Jim Shields or me. They already know it and I am unteachable.

ps Ward will provide musical entertainment at break times.

Spell check can't catch it if leave out entire words.

Tommy W. Are you telling me Murt is moving out of senior retirement villa & moving back to Roswell

Rex Booth

OK  Guys 'n  "Dolls"... This includes you too, Charline.

Last week I cut a deal with Hey-zuss.... to  load a container truck and move on Good Friday.  Hey-zuss sez he understands the scheduling and would intercede with Big Daddy up "there"..

Has anyone ever wondered where "there" is...?   Betcha Tommy could embellish upon it since he has mucho experience "sendin' them thar newly departed souls" on a space shuttle  to the big plantation in the sky.  If  Deacon Tommy can't explain the meaning of life and death at this point we all may wind up spinnin' and colliding into other souls  in outter space.   (quote George Carlin on this one)

So my friends and not-so-lucky associates,  I'm headin' to the "Promised Land" Roswell on Easter Sunday.  Hope your prayers are with me crossing the border from California to Harry Zona and on into Nuevo Mejico...

All Ya'll are invited to a B-B-Q  on Wednesday the 23.  That's when the big rig with me at the helm  should arrive.  While you are eating and celebrating my return with food in one hand, be sure to grab a box or two with the other hand and take it into my house.  If you want to stay til  1 or 2 in the morning to complete this marathon,  the Tequila will be flowing way after the the truck is unloaded.  Too set the mood,  here's one that should get you line dancers to rockin' 'n rollin'...

Rex,

Good luck on the move. Don't try to smuggle any fruit(s) into Arizona, or you may be wearing one of Sheriff Joe's pink jump suits. And is that move to the "promised land"??? or just back to the mother ship?

Incidentally, Mary Poppins is NOT one of my favorite movies. I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea. However, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is in the top ten!

Wish I could be there to watch the unloading... but am busy using up my back moving in from my country home to my new city home... if I can ever git'r done!

Billy,

Loved your country songs. #1 really touched a chord in my heart!

In fact, I lifted the whole thing, put in in a note to all my other friends/family and passed it on.

Don't worry, I changed your last name to just a T. I know you don't want to be getting calls at all hours from the music folks here in Tennessee.

However, next time I have dinner with Dolly, I may tell her about them.

Cool pic of Harold and Valdez in the Roswell Daily Record. If Harold was any closer it would be tee ball. Glad to see the boys still out and about.

John L,

You must have a crystal ball.  How'd you know I'd be stopping in Maricopa County to visit my favorite Uncle Joe Arpaio.  Very astute.  Sheriff Joe also provides his inmates with pink underwear.  There was a huge theft problem at Tent City with the white.   There is little or no theft with the pink.  Not many want to be called "Pretty in Pink".  But as Sheriff Joe sez:  If you don't want to spend time in Tent City (110 degrees inside the Korean War Surplus Tents) Don't break the law...

Don't worry about me taking any fruits with me on trek  through the wilderness looking for the land of milk and honey.  All those fruits, nuts, and feminazi's will be left behind in Santa Cruz.

Here's a couple more country western songs y'all can add to yer bag:

"How Can I Miss You When You Won't Go Away"
"I Bought the Shoes That Just Walked Out on Me"
"If the Phone Doesn't Ring, It's Me..."
"Goin' to Hell in Your Heavenly Arms"

It's curious Tom Jordan didn't throw the ceremonial pitch...  after all Tom, Ferrell and uhh, Snakebite were the real pitchers in 1956.  Was that a "wiffle' ball Harold was throwing...?

04/16/14 10:53 AM #1005

Billy Turley

Rex,

I was the #3 pitcher. Fortunately for all concerned Tommy and Ferrell completed every game they started and we won. As a side note: we played a lot of whiffle ball and could probably have been champions at that also. Dick Storey and Mike Sandry were really good at it. Last summer Tommy's grand son threw a couple whiffle ball pitches to Tommy and Ferrell. Smack ....its back... away back... it's outta here. Those boys can still hit.

Ah can see it now...  The "1956 Commemorative Wiffle Ball World Little (Old Codgers League) Championship" held this Summer 2014 in Roswell.   Step right up folks.  One dime.  One tenth of a dollar to watch the World Wiffle Ball Championship.... or maybe that was the side show for Little Egypt...?

Sorry it took me so long but today I talked  to the lady that made the cherry newtons that we all loved so much. The Cherry Newton is coke, cherry syrup, and milk.

Harvey, that's the one, Roswell's own. I think he player 8 or ten years of college basketball haahaha. I know he player at Texas Tech. I will ask a couple people who used to run around with him what ever happened to him.

Pat Sullins (Carpenter)

John A,  That is the EASTER BUNNY.  He is located all over the world and he brought me some candy eggs in 1952 that I hated....way too sweet!!  Do I get 3 points????????

04/18/14 09:54 AM #1010

Billy Turley

John A,

Pat deserves 2 points for creativity and 1 point for weirdness. I thinks she's been ready too much or Rex's stuff.

The rest of us are immune.

04/18/14 10:19 AM #1011

John Landess

Well, so much for the chocolate in the Cherry Newtons!!!! OR, maybe we just have invented the NEW Choco-cherry Newton.. Just made one by the recipe from Tommy and again my memory fails me, but it was good.

Harvey, try using Blue Diamond almond milk...its not bad at all.

John A. cute Easter bunny picture. Reminds me of how poor we were, when I was a kid in Roswell. How poor were we???? I used to have to run along side the rabbits and feel their ribs to see if they were fat enough for my Dad. He didn't want to waste any .22 shells!!! (now, lets hear some other 'how poor' stories)cheeky

Billy T. Are you sure you are not being too hard on Rex, now that he is abandoning the golden state, and returning to his roots.

04/18/14 10:46 AM #1012

Billy Turley

Not too hard on Rex...just joshing. He knows that I am easily  impressed.

By the way the English always drink coke and milk half and half. It is good but I just never associated it with Cherry Newtons but I may be the only person from Roswell who does not remember Cherry Newtons.Don't know that I ever had one....just cherry cokes. Maybe I missed that trip to the Mother Ship.Maybe they erased my memory for later deniability.

Tommy Clark coached for many years after his college basketball days.  He has passed away. I got to see him at Scottys one day and confessed that Roy and I stole a six pack of Country Club Malt Liquor out of his back seat at the high school parking lot one night.  His only comment was did we leave him any.  He had a case so he had some left. We would never have thought for a minute of taking it all.  Well maybe for a minute.  Can't say for certain, but I believe him to be the best Basketball player to ever go to RHS.  I would be willing to bet he still holds most of the records for scoring

04/18/14 05:20 PM #1014

John Allensworth

Sorry Pat, but if you have been reading Rex's stuff, I have to deduct 3 pts.

John L.  now that is poor!  You may already be a winner.

Dang Don, how old were you and Roy when you started drinking, Tommy Clark was old when I was a soph.
